I assumed I'd meet Tony Soprano

A behind-the-scenes look at my own unfiltered shenanigans from the marketing trenches. A real-life, no BS view of what it's really like to market a small business and ideas to make it all feel a whole lot easier!

We are officially back from our whirlwind summer travels!

It all started with a 10-hour drive to Montana for a music festival, 10 hours back to Idaho, a two-day turnaround, and then we were on a plane to New Jersey with two kids in tow for a two-week stay on the East Coast.

Before the trip, I had a very specific idea of what New Jersey would be like (mainly because I have watched too much Jersey Shore and Sopranos in my lifetime). I pictured big cities, industrial streets, and maybe an Italian gentlemen or two hanging outside a deli.

The reality could not have been more different.

Turns out, New Jersey is beautiful. Trees line the freeways so densely you can’t see the cities on either side. The beaches are stunning (big thanks to cousin Erin for letting us stay in her amazing historic beach house so we could enjoy said beaches daily). Oh, and we missed the super duper heat wave.

In our 12 days there, I also found a few things that slapped me in the face...

  1. Humidity: Holy moly. It wasn't even "hot" and I have never sweat so much in my life.
  2. Pork rolls & coffee cake: Everywhere. Every. Single. Morning.
  3. Traffic: 10 miles can take an hour. I honestly don’t know how locals do it. Hats off to y'all.

The whole trip was a fabulous reminder of how what we *think* something (or someplace) might be like is often so different from reality - and how refreshing it is when reality is so much better than what you expected.

And as much as we loved our time away, nothing beats coming home. I’ve never been happier to see my own bed, my dog, and the mountains out my window (now if we can just get this nasty wildfire under control life will be perfect).

No marketing advice this week...just a few fun photos from our travels and a reminder to stay open to being surprised πŸ’›

A behind-the-scenes look at my own unfiltered shenanigans from the marketing trenches. A real-life, no BS view of what it's really like to market a small business and ideas to make it all feel a whole lot easier! This week marks the unofficial end of summer for our family - the kids (and my husband) are back to school (insert small happy dance!). While it’s a little sad to see summer go, I’ll admit: I’m ready for the routine again. This is also the season for one of my very favorite...

A behind-the-scenes look at my own unfiltered shenanigans from the marketing trenches. A real-life, no BS view of what it's really like to market a small business and ideas to make it all feel a whole lot easier! One of my very favorite things to do is go camping. And this year, for some reason, I decided to resurrect an old-school tradition: Jiffy Pop. You know, that ridiculous shakeable popcorn you hold over the fire? What I forgot is how long it takes to make the stupid thing. The fire’s...

A behind-the-scenes look at my own unfiltered shenanigans from the marketing trenches. A real-life, no BS view of what it's really like to market a small business and ideas to make it all feel a whole lot easier! Have you ever experienced that out of the blue ah-ha moment? I swear it is rare these days, but every now and then, a little snippet of advice really hits home. It started last year around the first week of school. My husband is a teacher and he was headed back to work. My son was...
