Its another "Christensen Girls Adventure!"

A behind-the-scenes look at my own unfiltered shenanigans from the marketing trenches. A real-life, no BS view of what it's really like to market a small business and ideas to make it all feel a whole lot easier!

It's another Christensen Girls Adventure! Do you say this in a wrestling ring announcer voice like I do?!

Growing up, my mom was a teacher, so she had summers off with my sister and I. Every year, we’d pack up for a one-week “Christensen girls adventure,” leaving my dad at home to fend for himself.

These trips weren’t particularly fancy. We’d wander Idaho backroads, stopping at every historic marker and hidden gem we could find. We camped in the rain, discovered tiny roadside cafés, and admired huckleberry-stained wood at the Cataldo Mission.

From these adventures, I can say that I’ve mined garnets and swam in a purple-tinged stream below the mine. I’ve ridden a horse that looked like it might die at any moment (led by a super classy guy named Kelvin). I’ve soaked in more hot springs than I can count. I’ve even handed a creepy guy my mom’s business card on a Coeur d’Alene lake cruise, not understanding she was trying to make him go away. (Sorry, Mom.)

Looking back, those adventures are some of my favorite memories - not because they were glamorous, but because they weren’t. They were simple, fun, and rooted in the place we call home. I mean, Idaho is pretty damn cool!

With fall in full swing, I am inspired to bring back the spirit of those "Christensen girls adventures" and get out to appreciate this place.

It is honestly one of my very favorite times of the year (even though camping season is coming to a close 😭). It’s the pause between the chaos of summer and the rush of winter. It’s the season when I actually see people from around town again.

But (cause there is always a but!)...fall is also when business slows way down for our local shops and restaurants. It doesn't matter if you are in McCall or Boise or any other town USA - fall just moves slower. Which means local support of local businesses is clutch!

This week, I challenge you to pick one way to support a local business:

  • Grab a cup of coffee
  • Treat yourself to dinner out
  • Wander into a shop downtown
  • Share a neighbor’s business post on social media
  • Refer a friend or family member to a local business you love

Let's get out there! Run into a neighbor. Enjoy the slower pace. Celebrate the places we’re lucky enough to call home and the awesome businesses that make it special.

Sometimes the best adventures are right in our own backyard!

A real-life, no BS view of what it's really like to market a small business and ideas to make it all feel a whole lot easier! The holidays are one of my very favorite times of year. The twinkle lights, the smells, the music, the general excuse to eat fudge at 9 a.m. But I’ve also learned that the holidays have a special way of exposing… shall we say, my “less charming” traits. Mainly, that I am (how do I...
